If you come to Beijing, you must try Beijing's most famous cuisine: Beijing roast duck. The flavor is really good, not too salty, not too dry. Of course, before eating, remember to thank the duck..

"Buy, buy, buy!"

Zhongguancun, Beijing

Last weekend I rode my bike to Zhongguancun. In Zhongguancun, you can buy everything. Cell phones, computers, electronic dictionaries, cameras, etc. As soon as you arrive in the store, about 12 salespeople will ask you what it is that you want to buy. There seems to be a lot of pressure to buy things! But, it's best if you take your time to look at the goods, pick one that you like, and then tell the salesperson, "It's too expensive! Cheaper please!" ^^

Oh, do you know what brand "Apple Company" is? ^^

I bought an electronic dictionary, it's very useful, but it has a lot of features that I still don't know how to use. Before I had a very heavy book dictionary, so this new dictionary is much more convenient.

-------------------------
I haven't written here for a long time because I have been extremely busy lately. During QingMing Jie, I went to Chengde (in Hebei) to have fun for 2 days. I went to the Summer Resort, Guandi Temple, Puning Temple, and Putuozongcheng Temple. They were all so interesting and I took lots of pictures. On the train to Chengde, I bought a hard bed ticket. On the way back, the tickets were sold out except for the hard seat tickets. It wasn't very comfortable.

What else... kung fu class is getting more and more interesting. Right now I have 4 language exchange partners. I am also planning my summer travel. I want to go to Xinjiang and Tibet, etc. I don't know when I am going back to my country. China has so many beautiful places to see.

---------------------------------------
I like to travel but I haven't been to any far off places yet because right now my Chinese isn't that good. I hope that in 3-4 months, I'll be able to easily communicate with Chinese people.

I just went to Yuan Ming Yuan. Have a look at the pics. Yuan Ming Yuan seems a lot like Greece, what do you think?

"3 examples"

1st example: riding the subway.
In the USA, usually people prepare to get off the subway after the car has reached the next stop. In China, everyone prepares to get off the subway before the car has reached the next stop so they will ask you, "Are you getting off?" Before, I thought this was a lack of courtesy but my opinion has changed a bit. I think this method saves time. If you're not getting off at the stop, you don't have to get out of the car to let others off. It all results in a faster subway ride.

2nd example: restrooms.
Oh...I don't know what to say. American restrooms and Chinese restrooms are really not the same. Why? No toilet paper, no soap, very smelly. Of course, China has some bathrooms that are very clean and comfortable, but the majority are not like this.

3rd example: eating.
Eating at the campus cafeteria is very interesting. Chinese students eat very fast, only take 5 minutes to finish and then leave. If you are sitting at a table and there is an empty seat, they will sit down next to you or across from you without asking permission. At first I thought this was very strange and awkward, but now I realize how many people there are, and how few tables there are.
